PROBLEM
How Are Students Really Feeling?
We interviewed 4 university students aged 20–27 from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds. Their shared struggles — anxiety, isolation, and social disconnect — shaped every design decision.
FINDINGS
Presence Without Pressure Reduces Anxiety
Many students wanted to feel part of a group without the pressure to interact. Being present in a space (even silently) helps ease loneliness.
Shared Interests Create Trust Faster Than Small Talk
Students, felt more comfortable forming connections when interactions centered around a shared passion like music, not forced conversations.
USABILITY TESTING – Does It Actually Help?
System Usability Scale (SUS)
Task-based testing with think-aloud protocol
Custom survey on engagement, clarity, and emotional impact
SUS score averaged 90 – well above the industry benchmark of 68
Users praised the app’s layout, clarity, and emotional value
Some requested deeper friend interaction tools and expanded onboarding features
These design updates were implemented based on user testing and usability feedback to improve connection, comfort, and accessibility.
